Baby Rian's Speech Delay and hyperactive behavior

Baby Rian was 2 years when we noticed that she was not talking clearly as her cousin who is 2 months younger than her. She was also very active. She loves to run, jump, climb our sofa. It's as if she doesn't get tired.

She was 2 years and 2 months old when we decided that we bring her to a developmental Pedia.
To my surprise, there are not so many developmental Pedia in the Philippines. Thus, you need at least a month to get a schedule. I beg the developmental Pedia (Dr. Joel Lazaro) of Calamba to insert my daughter in his schedule so that she will be checked before my  husband goes abroad to work. I would like him to hear what the doctor has to say.


Last April 201, she was scheduled to be checked by Dr Lazaro.

Result of the check-up:

1.) Most important: She is Normal. She can look eye to eye with the doctor.
2.) She is 1 year delay with her speech
3.) She has short attention span

Recommendation: 

1.) We must enroll her to a toddler school so that she can mingle with other kids.
According to him, kids talk is different from adult talk so she needs other kids to talk to her.

2.) Occupational therapist is not necessary but it won't hurt if we try to enroll her in Special education (SPED)

3.) If after a years and she still doesn't talk as expected, she needs speech therapist but before we bring her to Speech therapist she must improve her attention span. She must learn to listen for 1 hr.

My husband and I decided to enroll her to SPED last May, 2010.
